‘Tough and funny’ for the kids in kindergarten
Posted April 30, 2019 08:16:17 A mother and daughter in their early teens were recently given the “biggest challenge of their lives”.
The kids had just finished a play session when they received a call to attend a preschool education station where they would spend the next two weeks.
“It was the biggest challenge of my life,” one of the students said.
“We didn’t know what to expect.
We just sat down and watched a couple of videos and we went in and it was really, really, hard.”
The school’s preschool education coordinator, Jenny Denniston, said the kids’ teachers had been really supportive.
“They’re the first ones to give them their first lesson, and they really wanted to make sure they were getting the right information,” she said.
The mother, who didn’t want to be named, said she was thrilled the children were taking part in the program, which helps students with social and emotional learning skills.
“You know, they’re very bright kids, and it’s very hard for them to understand the world outside the classroom,” she explained.
“The kids really, very quickly understand what it is to be a parent and what it’s like to care for a child.”
I’m so happy they’re in this program, I’m so grateful for it.
